December 2, 2012 - Geocaching Sacramento WMA

Saturday, December 1st, we watered trees at camp from 
sun up to noon and worked on the house after lunch
until dark.  After supper we picked up a mattress for
the staff cabins.
So Sunday afternoon we decided to do some hiking and
geocaching south of Kearney.

Geocache in the woods at the Sacramento Wildlife
Management Area south of Axtell.

We found three trees with these reflectors on them.
We have seen these before on night caches.
Maybe hunters use them to find their way in the dark.

All the trees in this forest are evenly spaced.

Found this over sized cooker.   This must have been
a camping area at one time.

Geocache container stuck to the bottom of a branch and
then stuck in a hole in a dead tree.  These can be hard
to find.


Another geocache branch.

This cache is called:  "Big Stump"
Out in the middle of a grass field.

This one had fake leaves attached to the lid.
We hiked through a prairie dog town to find this one,
but didn't get any pictures of the little critters.
We did have a close encounter with one trying to
get back to his hole.

The title of this cache is:  "Won't you take me to Funkytown"
from a song done in the 80's

The cache was a film container stuck in the top of this gate.
