September 28-30, 2012 - Geocaching Norfolk

New geocaches put out for the 2012 Norfolk Fall
Caching Extravaganza.  The city of Norfolk is between
the two.  "Go Big Red!" is in three different counties.
The geocaches are all 1/2 mile apart from each other.

A letterbox geocache we found Saturday morning
before the highway clean up event.

Mary found this decoy cache.  We didn't find the right
one, but another cacher gave us a hint at one of the events.

Some geocachers that caught up with us on the trail

Jerry found the cache in the culvert

Harvesting along a lot of the roads we traveled

Magnetic cache stuck behind this old sign

Mary found this interesting container that
took a while to get open

Finally got the the part with the log sheet

Old abandoned gas station in south Norfolk

This new house is just off the Highway 81 bridge
into Norfolk.  Stuck in between old houses.
Mary thought it was very strange.

Another history marker cache

Almost gave up on this one before noticing
the wood stake with electrical tape on it

Interesting site as we traveled down the country roads
looking for more caches on the Husker Trail

Interesting cache container

Another interesting container

Strange container

This sign is just off the Husker Trail

to complete another challenge

A very strange geocache.
A plastic sword stuck through a log with a
padalock on one end that you had to
guess the combination to get to the cache container
with log sheet.  We guessed it from the hints they gave.
It is part of another series of caches in Norfolk.

We couldn't find the cache at this stop.
It was called "Fallen Giants"

Found another ammo can in the woods.

Another strange one in the series to go along with the sword
we found earlier.

A cemetery for the Norfolk Regional Center.
Only 12 markers for 455 graves.

Very old gravestone in the cemetery
